REPLACING THE GLASS OF THE MARINE PALACE DOME IN SAINT-PETERSBURG
Vacuum grippers ARLIFT are used for glass mounting not only in the construction of buildings, but also in their reconstruction.
Replacing glass with vacuum gripper is one of the most common types of work. Despite the fact that the replacement of glass, as a kind of work, rather refers to the maintenance of buildings and is not the creation of a unique structure, reconstruction works are often interesting in terms of implementation complexity.
The project of replacing glass on the dome of one of the most "political" palaces in St. Petersburg - the Mariinsky Palace - is a proof of this.
The complexity of that project was not in size, andeven not in the unusual shape of glass, but in the fact that the installation was done at a height on a sloping surface.
It was no coincidence that the vacuum gripper Glass Boy 500 was chosen for the assembly work. Light weight, small dimensions and, most importantly, work from the remote control were undeniable advantages of the gripper, and on this object, where it was necessary to work extremely cautiously, on a sloping surface, those advantages played a very large role.
The gripper could be controlled remotely by using the remote control, while accurately aiming the glass and promptly perform the installation.
The mounted glass was small: 1.5 x 2 meters weighing 230 kilograms. Installation took only two days.
Installation work was performed by the company "Laboratory of Building Solutions".
